"I suppose it is tempting, if the only tool you have is a hammer, to treat everything as if it were a nail" Abraham Maslow
Facial Injectables procedures
One of the simplest and most effective ways to achieve a change without surgery is through the use of an injectable. There are anti-wrinkle injections that reduce lines by relaxing facial muscles and fillers which add volume and firmness to depleted areas of the face, and fat reducing injections. Other non-surgical procedures include microneedling of the skin, peels, and makeup lessons.
While these treatments are now extremely popular, accessible and affordable, results can vary enormously and are dependent upon the skill, technique and experience of the practitioner.
Ideally, you should get a full facial assessment to ensure that injectables are for you. We believe that all treatments need to be look normal, harmonising and leave nothing which gives them away. Peter Callan has been teaching and developing non-surgical techniques for over 15 years.
Fillers particularly have risks which you need to minimise.
Injectables such as anti-wrinkle and fillers are only one part of facial change. One tool will not correct all elements, and so all tools need to be available.
Before and after
Move slider right and left to see a combination of carefully planned and expertly administered anti-wrinkle injections, fillers and upper blepharoplasty to give a complete facial effect.
The most commonly performed injectable treatment is an anti-wrinkle injection into the frown muscles. Injectables should not take away from normal expression, nor should the effect look unnatural. The idea is to remove the undesirable and leave the desirable effects of the muscles. Injectables using fillers can also enhance volume where it has been lost or is deficient, or reduce small pockets of fat.

Anti-wrinkle injections are most often used on forehead lines and frown lines.
There is no downtime with the treatment. The consultation will take about 20 minutes, with the injections themselves taking only a few minutes of that time and then it’s back to normal activity.
You will start to notice the effects of the treatment about three days after your appointment, with maximum effect over the following two to three weeks. The effect of anti-wrinkle injections is temporary, lasting on average for three to four months.
The treatment costs between $300 and $1000, depending on how many injections are required to achieve the best result and what is appropriate for your age and face type.
Post-treatment, you should
- Avoid lying down for about four hours
- Avoid rubbing the treated area
- Avoid strenuous physical activity for several hours
- Avoid facials for about 24 hours
Fillers, of which there are several types, are injected under the skin to restore volume and fullness to the face. Dermal fillers can be used to enhance cheeks and restore facial volume and to soften deep facial creases and wrinkles. They can also be used to plump lips, but this must be done expertly to avoid being apparent (which poorly done lip filler almost always is).
Depending on the number of areas to be treated, your appointment may be as short as 15 minutes or as long as an hour.
You may be a little red, swollen or bruised after the procedure but the effect of the dermal filler will be noticeable straight away. It may take a couple of weeks before the final effects of the treatment are apparent. The results from this procedure can last for months or even years, depending on the type of filler and where it has been injected.
The treatment costs between $700 and $4000, depending on what is required to achieve the best result or what is appropriate for your age and face type.
There is very little down time with this procedure, although occasionally a bruise will develop. You will be able to return to your normal daily activities straight away, although it is a good idea to rest for a day. It is also a good idea to avoid intense physical activity for a couple of days.
There are certain risks with fillers. We use only fillers which are reversible and are dissolvable with an antidote (hyaluronidase) if necessary. Although uncommon, dissolving may occasionally be required to reduce volume in certain areas, or very rarely as an emergency because of injection into a blood vessel.
You will be given specific instructions on care post-procedure.
