A former president of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, Dr Callan is a sought-after surgeon, particularly in the field of rhinoplasty, with patients travelling from interstate and overseas to his Geelong practice.
Dr Callan is committed to being at the forefront of advancements and innovation in his field and, with his Sydney colleague Dr George Marcells, is a co-convener of both the triennial Masters Symposium on Functional and Aesthetic Rhinoplasty and the triennial Masters Symposium on Face lift and Facial Rejuvenation, which brings together some of the best and most distinguished rhinoplasty and face lift surgeons in the world. He is also a regular faculty member of the triennial Masters Symposium on Blepharoplasty and Facial Rejuvenation. He is a Faculty Member of the world famous Melbourne Advanced Facial Anatomy Course. He has also been a faculty member of the Rhinoplasty Society of Europe Meeting in Bergamo.

He is extensively published in peer reviewed literature and has been involved in more than 60 courses for Plastic Surgeons, Dermatologists and Cosmetic Physicians in Australia and internationally.
Dr Callan is a strong advocate of natural looking results and expert patient care. Recognising the discrepancy in expertise in the field of facial injectables, Dr Callan developed, with his colleague Dr Steven Liew from Sydney, an educational app known as Complete Face. The app has revolutionised practitioner education and skill development and is now being used all over the world.
